I love blinds, don’t get me wrong a pair of curtains can really add a sense of warmth to a room and frame a window but there is something to be said for the simplicity of blinds. I am a fan of the crispness if the folds that are formed in a Roman blind. A job that I have completed recently was a beautiful roman blind with embroidered fabric. The client wanted to highlight the beautiful embroidery design on the fabric so it was decided that some panels would be added to the blind. After lots of discussion, drawings and fabric samples it was decided that a panel would be added on the bottom and on each side, this was to be in a golden colour that picked up the embroidery. Normally when working with silk and embroidery I would add a interlining, however this is something that the customer wanted to avoid as a padded look was not something that was wanted. Instead a blackout lining was used, this helped to give a little more support to the main fabric, and not loose the crisp lines when folded.

When finished these blinds looked fantastic, with one either side of the room and the customer was very happy with the finished result.
